The entire church, built around a central, flattened dome, is a riot of painting, stuccowork and sculpture. It took no less than fifty years (1711-1756) to build this masterpiece of European Baroque architecture. Master architect Johann Michael Fischer added the finishing touches to this gem in 1748 while the Zeillers (Johann Anton and Franz Anton) were responsible for the frescoes, Johann Michael Feuchtmayer the stuccowork and Johann Joseph Christian the figurative sculptures.
