Wilhelmshöhe castle, a Classical-style building, houses Kassel's national art collections. The Antiquities section is home to Greek, Roman and Egyptian art, while the Old Masters Gallery, the highlight of the museum, boasts works by artists such as Cranach the Elder, Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian and Murillo. The Weissenstein wing (private apartments and ceremonial rooms) provides a valuable insight into life at the court of Hesse around the year 1800.
