This attractive, picture postcard wharf has views of barges and boats moored alongside the canal, which is lined with old houses and outdoor cafés. Between the two bridges (Inselbrücke and Roßstraßenbrücke), six fine houses dating from the 18C and 19C retain a feel of old Berlin. Ermelerhaus, at N°10, is one of the oldest buildings in the Mitte district: its neo-Classical façade may only date from 1804 but records of the building date back as far as the 16C.
