The Scuola Grande di San Marco, which boasts a beautiful trompe-l'oeil façade, was rebuilt by Lombardo following a terrible fire in 1485. At roof level, the graceful succession of pediments and arches crowned by statues and vases is the work of Mauro Codussi. The Scuola is now home to the city hospital, while the old pharmacy and anatomy museum are open to the public.
