During the four centuries of Roman colonisation, Tarraco became one of the major cities of the Roman Empire. This can be seen by the vestiges throughout the city which give an insight into the lives of its 30,000 former inhabitants. You will see the forum, the magnificent amphitheatre (2C) overlooking the sea, the Roman circus (1C), the Praetorium and its underground galleries and the ramparts (3C BC). Make sure you see the wonderful mosaics in the Archaeological Museum.
