In the region that extends north of Esbjerg between Varde (38km north of Ribe via Route 11) and Ringkøbing you have the chance to see landscapes that are typical of Jutland's west coast: a vast lagoon, shifting dunes carpeted with wild grass and heather, immense beaches, extremely rich nature reserves and "plantations" - areas where trees have been planted to prevent sand drift and stabilise dunes. The numerous pedestrian and cycle paths are a good way of exploring this area.
