This tiny cottage was built in 1779 for the Princess of Lamballe on an island in the middle of the English garden in the grounds of the Château de Rambouillet. Although rustic in appearance on the outside, the interior is highly refined and richly decorated with shells, streaks of marble and mother-of-pearl.
