On the walls inside, a few small panels and statues of the Virtues illustrate episodes from the life of St Francis (right-hand side) and St Lawrence (left-hand side), whose martyrdom is depicted on the far wall. The haughty detachment of the Virtues and veiled sadness of the nude figures contrast with the joyous triumph of the exquisite putti.
