De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Palamedes Citadel is a powerful complex of seven forts or bastions that crown a 216m-high hill. It was built by the Venetians in the early 18C. You enter via the Bastion of St Andreas, the parade square of which reveals a very Italian sort of elegance, tempering its fortress-like appearance. Next to St Andrew's Chapel is the cell where Kolokotronis, one of the heroes of the fight for independence, was imprisoned. The parapet walk commands magnificent views of the town.
