The remarkable museum seems to emerge out of the ground like a blockhouse a few miles from the Marne battlefields. A place of both remembrance and reconciliation, it seeks to give an insight into the war of the trenches and explain how this conflict has shaped today's world. A re-creation of a battlefield, tanks and aircraft are all part of this superb and varied collection of close to 50,000 objects and documents which chart the Great War and the personal stories of those who were part of it.
