In 1988, the queen mother played an active part in the new agricultural policy. To be as close as possible to the reforestation projects undertaken in the region, Queen Sirikit built this residence in an unusual style for the region. With its mountain chalet appearance (the Queen lived for a long time in Switzerland) and huge proportions worthy of its owner's high rank, Doi Tung Royal Villa, with its pleasant botanical garden, is something of a surprise.
