This museum built in 1983 by architect Leslie Martin has an interesting design, in which the surrounding vegetation is perfectly incorporated into its overall space. It houses modern works of art by contemporary Portuguese and international artists from 1910 to the present day, including Vieira da Silva, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso and José de Almada Negreiros. Presented in rotation, the sculptures, paintings and installations show the milestones in the artistic evolution of the 20C in dialogue with its historical upheavals.
