Smithwick Brewery has been brewing beer since 1710. Five minutes from the castle, it is established in the ruins of the 12C St Francis Abbey. The brewery now brews Smithwick and Kilkenny ales and Budweiser. A tour of the premises will acquaint you with the history of the company and the manufacture of ale, as well as showing you the brewery itself and what remains of the abbey.
