Shaded by giant ficus trees and decorated with benches that are always occupied, the Jardín Unión is the nerve centre of the town's social life, a place where families and students meet at all hours. At nightfall a stream of people come out for a walk in this theatrical decor, to the sound of traditionalestudiantinas music. On Thursdays and Sundays at 7pm the municipal orchestra faithfully performs pieces from the Mexican repertoire. The Jardín is lined by the Church of San Diego, which is worth a visit for its sophisticated (18C) churrigueresque façade.
