De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The fortifications, built in 1193, were financed by the ransom money paid to Austria by England for the release of Richard the Lionheart from the Dürnstein fortress jail. They are well preserved with ramparts, moats and six defensive towers, including the Clergy's Tower, Bakers' Tower and Women's Tower. The latter was used as a hospice by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem and has a former chapel with 14C frescoes.
