From Vierville-sur-Mer to Colleville-sur-Mer, Omaha Beach ("bloody Omaha ») is very probably the most tragically famous of all the D-Day beaches. It was in this American sector of operations that the number of Allied fatalities was highest. Overlooking the beach, Colleville-sur-Mer American Military Cemetery pays an impressive tribute to the many lives lost.
