The vast salt marshes of Chumkriel lie just outside Kampot. Each plot is enclosed by dams made of earth and filled with sea-water by pumps. During the dry season (Dec-May), the salt-workers rake the earth to make mounds of salt that they then carry back to store in long wooden shacks, walking along a maze of trails.
