The village owes its name to the presence of an episcopal castle. This building has been modified several times since the 14C and comprises an dissymmetrical main building. Overlooking the Beauronne valley, its façades have stone latticework and a rampart walk with machicolations. From this rampart walk, you can access the St Vincent suite, a rental property (maison d'hôte). It was in the parish church that St Vincent de Paul was ordained by Bishop François de Bourdeille on 23 September 1600.
