The current institution is the result of three museums having been merged: the former Museu Cervera, the Wheat and Farming Museum, and the Casa-Museu Duran i Sanpere - the house of a wealthy 19C bourgeois family. On the ground floor, the regional museum displays collections of medieval art and the historical collections of the town's university. The first floor showcases the house of the Duran family, with its original furniture.
