The 17C church of the former Santa María convent has lent its name to this district. Its Mannerist-style facade, is the work of Alonso de Vandelvira, son of the famous Renaissance architect Andrès de Vandelvira. It is topped by a belfry crowned with an 18C spire decorated with azulejos. Inside, admire the dynamism of the Baroque altarpiece and the Delft ceramics decorating the base of the Nazarene chapel.
