A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Studenica is the largest and richest monastery in Serbia, and its founder, King Stefan Nemanja, made it an important mausoleum for his dynasty. This Orthodox complex dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built in the Serbian medieval style, where Western and Eastern art blend with great refinement. Splendid and priceless Byzantine frescoes decorate the walls.
