The Plage de Boucan-Canot is considered to be the most beautiful beach on Réunion. Along with the Roches Noires beach in Saint-Gilles, it is the only steeply shelving beach on the island. A shark net allows bathers to swim safely here, as well as in a man-made pool (600m2/6 400sq ft). Locals from Saint-Denis come to the beach en masse at the weekend, strolling along the pedestrian seafront road and stopping every so often at one of the snack bars for bouchons and samosas, a cold beer or a glass of guava juice.
