Meygal forest, formed between 1865 and 1880, clings in part to the slopes of the Grand Testavoyre, which is a prime walking destination. The path that leads to it (30min there and back on foot) emerges from the undergrowth to wind through heather and blueberries. From the summit, the panoramic view reveals a beautiful volcanic landscape: to the north, the Yssingeaux region and its chain of volcanic saps; to the east, the Pic du Lizieux; to the south, St Front, facing the Mézenc, and from the southwest to the northwest, the Monts du Velay.
