Maurice was a brave 4C Christian legionary who steadfastly refused to slay his co-religionists, which cost him his life. Canonised thereafter, his crescent coat-of-arms appear on the façade of this 15C residence, which was the home of the senior officer of the military and religious Order of the Knights of the Crescent, founded by King René.
