Thanks to its location and Art Nouveau buildings Ålesund knows how to charm visitors. Built after the fire of 1904, many of these buildings are embellished with arrows, towers and refined sculptures in the purist style in fashion at the time, with a smattering of typically Norwegian touches such as dragon heads.
