De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The mosque is recognisable by its cylindrical minaret with balconies seemingly propped up by stalactite sculptures. It was built in 1346 by Emir Al-Sunqur then restored by an Ottoman officer, Agha Moudtahfizan, following an earthquake. The main attractions of the building are its minbar with its polychrome marble sides; the earthenware tiles with floral motifs from Iran covering the south iwan of the prayer room, added in 1651 during the restoration, have earned it the name "Blue Mosque".
