The seaside resort of Lido di Metaponto juxtaposes the archaeological site of Metapontum, a testimonial to a past linked to Magna Graecia. Only a few vestiges remain of this Greek city, founded in 8C BCE that extended over the surrounding countryside. On site, you can visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, rich in treasures found in neighbouring digs and the Tavole Palatine, the site of a ruined Doric temple.
