The History Museum is spread over three sites: Baba Vida fortress, a former barracks, which houses the ethnographic section and a strange-looking building in the National Revival style, home to the archaeological and historical sections. The latter, which is traversed by a vaulted passageway, was once the Turkish konak (palace). The collections chart the town's troubled history through numerous objects (sculpture, mosaics, jewellery) and documents (portraits).
