The Rio Grande crosses the Taos plateau by digging out a gigantic gorge, which can be admired from the Rio Grande Bridge 195m above the water. One can also walk along the ridge. Some 2.5km away, the unusual Earthship Community has semi-buried human dwellings with rounded corners, called earthships. This habitat concept uses only natural energy and natural or reclaimed materials. A fascinating place to visit, especially for those interested in ecology and sustainable living.
