At the foot of the first pillar of the rail bridge, this 17C inn probably stands on the site of one of the pilgrims' hospices created by Queen Margaret. Today this hotel, still open for business, albeit in a considerably modified form, is mentioned in the novels of Scott and RL Stevenson.
