"Bank of the Pastures" is the bucolic name of this Siena credit institution created in 1472 and among the most active in operation today. Although it's doubtful whether the pastures around Siena still serve to guarantee the business of this Europe-wide bank, this prosperous establishment has bought the three palaces (Salimbeni, Spannocchi and Tantucci) on Salimbeni Square. Since 2011, a severe crisis has threatened its continued existence.
