Unfortunately badly damaged by bombing in 1944, this 13C church has been rebuilt in the original Romanesque style. In its Ovetari chapel, the church has retained fragments of frescoes by Mantegna which give an idea of the powerful vision of this artist. The chancel chapel was decorated by Guariento, a pupil of Giotto - the master's influence is evident in the postures and expressions of the characters depicted.
