The crossing between Flores and Sumbawa is superb. To make the most of it, charter a boat with several people for two days; that way you can visit Komodo or Rinca, enjoy the beaches and scour the superb marine depths. The Sape Strait has powerful currents, but you can have confidence in the prowess of the sailors at the helm. Don't miss Pulau Lawah, a small island at the northern tip of Komodo, which has magnificent coral reefs, or Pulau Banta.
