Indonesia's oldest museum, and without doubt the most interesting, is home to a particularly rich ethnographic section, featuring superb Chinese ceramics and Hindu-Buddhist art, including a stunning Ganesh, splendid drums (500 BCE) and early batiks. Don't miss the treasury, where you will see an outstanding collection of gold, silver and bronze jewellery, Kris daggers and tableware. The lavish 9C Hindu objects were discovered in 1990.
