Level with the town of El Alto, on the Pan-American Highway, a road descends through sandy hillsides down to the huge bay of Cabo Blanco. It is popular with fisherman and experienced surfers: from November to January, the waves can reach a height of 3m. Nearby the small beach of Restin is quieter and more sheltered.
