Breckenridge was founded in 1859 by gold diggers. The town's main street is still lined with shops and restaurants, many of which are built in the typical style of the Old West. If you're interested in learning more about the town, Summit Historical Society organises walking tours and visits of the mining district, while the Country Boy Mine is also open to visitors and organises gold-panning sessions.
